Brighton vs Everton Preview

The Albion host the blue side of Liverpool as they take on Everton tomorrow.

Brighton have won just one of their last 10 league games and will be hoping to recover some form as the new year becomes just the year.

What can Brighton fans expect against the Toffees tomorrow?

Team News

Fabian Hürzeler has said that Diego Gomez has a small issue so will be assessed, given his run of starts he could be due a rest anyway.

Aside from that there are presently no new injury concerns.

Brighton will be looking to continue their strong home form this season, with just the one defeat at the hands of bogey team Aston Villa so far this campaign.

That said, Albion have drawn three of their last four home games, so will be looking to convert some of those draws into wins.

Everton have a positive record at the Amex and haven’t lost here since 2019. That run included a 5-1 hammering and some really frustrating points dropped.

Brighton were the better team last time out in a frustrating defeat to Fulham, which saw a late collapse.

Carlos Baleba put in a fantastic performance at Craven Cottage but according to Hürzeler requested a substitution, perhaps he had overrun it.

To avoid the risk of being outrun like in recent weeks, Brighton may look to incorporate some of the bench personnel into the eleven. Moyes’ team, like Silva’s and Iraola’s, requires good physical levels, and a spine of 34-year old’s for Brighton on Monday looked like what a spine of 34-year old’s should look like.

Yankuba Minteh and Georginio Rutter have been sidelined recently but should be in with a shout of returning to the eleven.

Everton have been the seventh best away team in the league, with home form leaving them tenth in the full table.

The Toffees are still without Jack Grealish who is ruled out for a few months, which has left a little void of creativity going forward for Everton.

However, they aren’t without goal threat. Thierno Barry has found his feet in front of goal, whilst Iliman Ndiaye has scored a couple against Brighton in the last few meetings.

Brighton and Everton have had similar seasons, just three points separate us and annoying draws are creeping in.

Points shared against Leeds on Monday followed a great result at Villa Park, and Everton look like they’ve got some decent squad depth going now compared to previous years.

As said, Brighton tend to struggle against Everton, although did have a very positive record against David Moyes before his return to the blue side of Merseyside.

If Brighton can find some joy in wider areas with Mitoma and Minteh’s first joint start since that win at Stamford Bridge in September, they still have a great chance here.

The TalkSeagulls Score Prediction

Despite this, it’s hard to look past a frustrating result. It’ll likely be a scrappy game, and those end of January/February home games against Everton in the last two years have been low quality affairs.

Brighton 1-1 Everton, Dewsbury-Hall and Kadioğlu.

Around The Grounds:

Elsewhere, Palace take on Forest which could get concerning if we look over our shoulders after dropping points tomorrow

Elsewhere, wins for Man City and Aston Villa would be handy against Spurs and Brentford respectively, whilst Liverpool and Newcastle dropping points against each other wouldn’t go amiss.
