Albion completed a convincing 4-1 victory over Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur.
It started questionably, during a nervy first 20 minutes, Spurs took an early lead thanks to a penalty from Dominic Solanke.
The tide turned quickly after half-time, and the substitutions made the difference. The introductions of Kaoru Mitoma and Diego Gomez changed the dynamic of Brighton’s strength going forward.
Let’s get into it then, this is what you’re here for after all…
Bart Verbruggen – 7
Mats Wieffer – 6
Jan Paul Van Hecke – 7.5
Adam Webster – 7
Igor – 6
Carlos Baleba – 7.5
Yasin Ayari – 5
Brajan Gruda – 6
Simon Adingra – 4
Jack Hinshelwood – 9.5
Yankuba Minteh – 8.5
Kaoru Mitoma – 8
Diego Gomez – 9
Matt O’Riley – 8
Joël Veltman – 7
James Milner – 100, at least he ACTUALLY played again!
In a dominant second half, the forwards stole the ratings. Diego Gomez and Kaoru Mitoma notably made a difference and emphasised Yankuba Minteh’s impact when switching back over to the right.
Simon Adingra struggled to make any real impact on the game, regularly getting shrugged off the ball.
My high rating for Jack Hinshelwood is self-explanatory. A youngster who has played his large portion of the season out of position at right-back, before moving back into midfield, and ending the season as the only striker… incredible!
Not to mention, three goals in two games, two of those coming today to turn the game around, against two of the big six sides. A very impressive return from one of our own!
Diego Gomez finished off a good afternoon with a world-class first goal. Curling the ball from 30 yards into the top right-hand corner. One of those where you just knew it’d hit the back of the net after he struck it, a beautiful moment for the emotional Paraguayan.
