Following another season topping the goal contributions charts, Albion’s Brazillian forward has been linked with multiple moves away from the club.

News broke last night via The Athletic following an unspecified ‘altercation’ between João Pedro and Jan Paul Van Hecke before Brighton faced Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pedro was left out of the squad as the Seagulls saw off champions Liverpool, and the general feeling that his career on the South Coast could be reaching an uncomfortable end.

Liverpool have been one of the names thrown in the hat as potential suitors, a club that operates in a similar data-driven recruitment set-up as Tony Bloom. Pedro ticks a lot of boxes for a club at the stature of Liverpool. Strong, fast on the turn, technically gifted, and able to win games on his own are key traits of a top-level footballer. Pedro’s work rate on the pitch is an underrated factor that he holds, and key for a move to a ‘bigger’ club. Covering extensive distance and firing up the fans when they need it most.

Much like Brighton, the Reds hold a similar notion towards keeping a happy camp, and with Pedro’s bust-up now public, this could be a deterrent.

João Pedro’s moments in big games will be a key attraction for most teams competing in the higher stages of European football. Pedro has proved time and again that he is capable of scoring vital goals in vital moments at any level he has played so far.

Rumours floating around claiming a £60 million fee would be demanded by Albion should be taken with a pinch of salt for now, as fees are rarely clearly stated by Brighton for players they are ready to sell.

Clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Newcastle are all keen on the forward. Newcastle have previous interest and nearly signed during his Watford tenure, just a short while before Brighton made their move. Variables could depend on Alexander Isak departing depending on European status at the end of the season.

No matter what happens, you can imagine Chelsea will offer something at some point!
