An exclusive report from The Brighton Base has revealed that Brighton defender Adam Webster has suffered a knee injury whilst away in Spain on the club’s pre-season tour. The report also states that there are fears that the 30 year old has damaged ligaments in his knee, which would result in a significant spell on the sidelines if those fears prove to be true.
The Englishman joined the club from Bristol City in 2019, joining Graham Potter’s first season in charge at the club. He has since gone on to make over 150 appearances for the Albion, including being a regular starter in the club’s historic 2022/23 season. He has now become a reliable figure to back up Lewis Dunk and Jan Paul Van Hecke in the centre of defence.
Brighton have been active in the transfer market to reinforce the defence, bringing in Olivier Boscagli and Diego Coppola from PSV and Hellas Verona, respectively. However, Igor has been strongly reported to be departing the club this summer, with Real Sociedad among others rumoured to be after the Brazilian. Whether a potentially lengthy spell on the sidelines for Webster changes those plans, only time will tell.
With his own contract running out next summer (2026), Adam Webster was also rumoured to be leaving the club with Everton showing interest before opting to keep their own defender, Michael Keane. Wolves have also been historically rumoured to be keeping an eye on the ball-playing defender.
It goes without saying, but we all wish Adam Webster a speedy recovery from his injury and hope to see him playing again soon!
